hi all

in short i've got a ten year old hiace and a baby on the way, so i wanted to replace the middle lap belt with a three point seat belt. The guy at my local garage just scratched his head and said 'can't be done mate'.

Can anyone help? don't really want a different van.

As a qualified graco baby seat fitter, i plead with you never to fit a baby serat in the middle rear seat of the car, it is the most dangerous thing you can do, the safest place for the baby is on the rear passenger side of the car, and if you really feel the need to be able to see the baby then pay 9.99 for a baby mirror that clip to your rear view mirror.

For new born babies i would recommend paying the extra and getting the docking base for you car seat to that stay perminantly in the car and you just remove the seat from the base making it 200% more secure ( if the base is fitting correctly )

ALWAYS READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE FITTING OR USING A BABY SEAT FRO TEH FIRST TIME...

example of base mentioned in my post..

I have just bought a Hiace and am also looking at the possibility of replacing the front middle lap belt with a standard inertia type.

Has anyone managed a successful conversion ? If so, any pics ?? Thanks.
