Your vsv might not be ok - thats why you need to bypass it and see if you get the power back.

Let me know tomorrow.

I am going to delete all your other threads now so stay with this one tomorrow :thumbsup:

With everything connected rev the engine and see if that link between the turbo vacuum unit and the turbo moves. If that works go to the MAF sensor and test it and clean it.;

Tell me again exactly what it does

it all started when u drove it a about 3ooo revs the eml came on and when you remove key and restarted it was ok so i just drove it keeping it at about 2500 revs and it drove find but you could feel a little miss in it espically when it was under load or when you gave it some acceleration , then it seem to get worse spluttering at time as if it wasnt getting fuel, so i changed fuel filter and air filter and changed my garage where i got my fuel it didnt really make any difference, gradually it just seemed to get worse and i could notice it holding back when you accelerated, then couple of day ago when i started an drove off it just stopped , so i restart it an d it went 100yards and stopped but putting no eml light on, and from then its really holding back and has come to the stage today you cnt even get it over 2000revs its just missing and really holding back,when u start in morning and let it idlw for about 10-15 min it usually drive without stopping itself and when u get engine running it will keep running, but it seems if you dnt let it heat up it will just stop itself , it really cnt be driving now it so bad and im stuck for work

code p1250 is the code im getting the p12xx is to do with the fuel pump or fuel and air mixture if im working this out right,the 50 im working on , is there such a thing as a prc solenoid on the rav 4 tied in with the fuel air mixture, i dnt really know whats what in a engine but i think i seen something which looks like a little solenoid under the vsv ,only me thinking tooo much please correct me if im away off track , then im thinking is the 50 meaning bank 1 sensor 2 or vice versa meaning the scv valves thanks

You are getting mixed up with petrol engines with your banks and sensors or at least on your model you are. I will have to trawl my files but that P1250 code is generic and may not directly cross refer to the Toyota code. The trouble is I won't be around this weekend so you might have to sit tight as far as I am concerned.

anchorman when you told me to join the 2 pipes and bypass the vsv was the one lowest down coming from the egr valve going to the thing which sits on top of turbo. sorry i dn know what u call it

so if im correct this pipe should be sucking,the reason im asking is because a so called machanic told me the egr valve was a completly different thing , maybe u understand now why im trying to sort this myself, some mechanic he must be

Have a look at this.

vsv.pdf

Try bypassing it. If that doesn't work try another fuel filter. If that doesn't work I'm afraid you are going to have to start somewhere and I would get a set of SCVs. Read this;

Good luck. I will look in again as soon as possible.

It has a single SCV valve but I have never heard of one going. We had a suspected one once but I think it turned out to be something else.

Hi, having a simular problem throwing code (Autoboss) P1250 no description given though. Have check VSV as per instructions found on this site. All passed except number 4. as air is blowing from port E to G so would it be wise to replace or could it be only part of the issue with this code? Customer is a fussy sort of guy and does not like spending money. I'm a Ford guy most of my life so not too much experiance with Toyota, this site has helped me lots in the past. Appreciate any help, and fantastic site.

Regards,

Gary.

Welcome to the club Gary.

No don't change it as that is the one part of the Toyota manual that is labelled wrong. Yours is working as it should. Do all the basic stuff first including the fuel filter. If you need to be sure about the EGR, blank it off while you play. If all is OK I would home in on the turbo vac unit and the linkage.

If the customer kicks off, ask him if he's got any better ideas and if he wants you to fix it or not!!!

Cheers, Made checks as advised and lubed linkage. Then discovered a lot of oil in exhaust. Turbo seals were on way out. Had turbo rebuilt, cleaned all pipes, intercooler, EGR, and exhaust, all is well. No issues since.

Many thanks.

I think you will find they have priced the wrong switch, the usual culprit is £67 plus VAT
