What is the function of the O/D Off button in the hand gear lever?

Posted

so o/d off consumes more fuel?

Overdrive allows the engine to operate at a lower rpm for a given road speed. This allows the vehicle to achieve better fuel efficiency, and often quieter operation on the highway.
That's the theory

what about driving (or better waiting) in long traffic queues? should the o/d be turned off??

should I put on neutral gear or keep on driving position with foot brake pressed?
