Toyota Service Cannot Fix My Car...what's Next?

Hi

I put my Toyota Avensis (2003) in Toyota service (Jemca) and after weeks of investigation and changing some parts still they faild to identify a root cause. Today they just called me and said it's extremly difficult to fix it. I am seeking some advice

- should I pay them even they failed to identify what's a problem.. they would charge me 2,000 pound

- is there any next step that I can move ahead to fix my car?

If you posted some more relevant information such as exact engine type, mileage and what was wrong with the car you may heave a better chance of getting some replies.:)
