Fitting Satnav ?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I wonder if I can fit in SatNav + rear view camera in to Verso TR Verso 2.2 D-CAT rather than taking an option from Toyota. Because Toyota said if I choose Navi option, it would take 8 ~ 9 weeks and then VAT goes up 20%. So I just order a standard one and fit them afterward. Does it make sense? Also I heard Toyota SatNav (data) is crap.

Also, can anyon advise me what would be good models of SatNav+Rearview?

Thanks

Alex

The pioneer AVICF910BT is a good option. I had it fitted in mine it has Nav,DVD and iPod and iPhone comparability it is expensive but you have got the option of taking it out when u replace your car

I agree with yaris781 - I'm looking at getting a Sony XNV 66 with precisely the plan to put it in the next car. At first I was getting annoyed as I could only find 'perfect fit' head units for Ford and VW-family cars, then I realised that would be a mistake as I'd have to sell the unit with the car.

Update - I've now fitted this and I recently found a chinese reversing camera on eBay which fits nicely. Only downer is that I can't seem to set up separate sound outputs for the dvd/usb whilst I'm using tomtom in the front. Some head units allow two audio zones, but I'm totally flummoxed by this one. I'll post a link to the eBay seller once I have the camera wired in.

Hi,

I'm really interested to fit a Nav System in my Toyota Verso, the key point for me is to integrate steering wheel buttons with it. Does Sony or Kenwood Systems support it? Does anyone already integrated it?

Thanks!

Good timing Bonehead_rs. Which year Verso?

I've fitted a Sony XNV66 to mine. I bought the Autoleads Toyota cable kit and steering adaptor box and fascia replacement with it. You'd have to buy those bits for most cars anyway. The steering controls work pretty well. My T180 has: volume + and - buttons, up and down buttons, and a MODE button. No phone buttons on my car. With the original Toyota stereo, MODE changes input and turns it all off if you hold it down. Volume works as expected, pressing up/down skips between presents (or CD tracks), and holding down the up/down button searches frequencies.

On the Sony, MODE switches AV inputs (even empty ones unfortunately, but doesn't go to phone or navi) but does not turn off the stereo if you hold it down.

Volume works normally.

Up/Down searches radio frequencies but doesn't skip between presets.

I hope that helps!
