Hi there.

Just purchased a clean Auris 2.0 Diesel 2007, with 40,000 miles.

I am just wondering what MPG I can expect. I see figures of 40 45 50 mpg.

I have approx 18 mls drive on slow country roads. Average is only about 35-40 mph.

thanks

If they're not obscenely hilly you can probably do most of the journey in 5th (Or maybe even 6th!) gear so I'd imagine the economy'd be pretty good.

My brother's 2.0L Corolla D4D gets low-mid 50's mpg by comparison, and he tends to drives it quite hard on the motorway!

I am only getting about 40mpg. Can anyone offer advice on ways to improve this. I am new to Toyota and to diesels.

I'm getting mid 40's on a varied commute, B roads and Dual Carriageways, and town roads. All in all about 25 miles each way.

Try to get through the gears as quickly as possible, changing up at 2000 rpm.

I have a SR180 & when my other half was doing 30miles a day 5 days a week. She was getting 33.5mpg which is shockingly crap for a modern 2.2 td. If anyone can help to try & improve it. The car has a full service history & is a 58 plate. I'm considering getting the car re-mapped to try sort the fuelling out as well as the awful 1st gear.

Dont use too high a gear, this is in contradiction to normal wisdom.

I find the 2.2 needs rev to work properly and economically.

Stay to as near to 2000rpm as possible and feather the throttle, the car is extremely sensitive to throttle travel.

I am averaging 38MPG since september 2009.
