Is There A 'reflash' For Sr180 Ecu?

Hi Guys,

Tonight my engine developed a bit of a stutter at low revs in all gears, and the car was up to full temp at the time.

I'm hoping someone can give me a bit of advice on any ECU updates or 'reflashes' available for the Auris SR180.

I dropped into a local dealers today to enquire about the cars history with the previous owner, and the only details on record were both services, and a 'pedal recall'.

I have read on here about some cars having an ecu reflash, but i'm not sure what models or age were supposed to have this done.

I have a couple of niggles that i will be booking the car in for under warranty, so if i can get a definitive answer about the age and model of car eligible for the reflash, i'll request that mine has it done.

I'd rather the car responded when i need it to.

A few extra pence per tankful is cheaper than being hit by another car if i can't pull across a junction.

Car is booked into the local dealers for next Wednesday.

It will be more than a few pence, I would guess if you are still on the original software that you will loose up to 5mpg

The thing is, i would much rather have my car driving as it should do.

The hesitation is hard to ignore, and as i don't drive on a daily basis my MPG won't make a massive difference to my pocket.

Thanks for the advice

Thinking about this some more, the symptoms are similar to an EGR problem i had on my last car, so they may replace it under warranty with any luck.

EGR ready for a clean, this would make a lot more sense. Dead easy job takes less than half an hour.

I have cleaned it already and used your very helpful guide, however i was unable to take the end piece off to clean the concealed part of the plunger as i lent my allen keys to a friend so she could build a cot, then she had the baby early and forgot to return the tools.

IF it is the EGR, i would hope that the dealers would spot the symptoms, see that it is already quite clean and hopefully replace it under warranty.

I will have some sort of answer this time next week, so i will update this thread in the hope that it might help someone in the future.
