Auris Repair Help

Hi All,

I have recently bought a Auris VVTi 1.6 TR and sadly enough mother nature decide to put her tree on it...

lets cut the story short, I had problem with insurance company doing their job and now the Garage is trying to rip them off (include me) as I was looking to pay for the damages to avoid premium. (excess is 500)

The quote has show the following parts that I do not understand;

Grille (assuming its the front grill) - replace grill but not bumper? is that correction?

ROOF PANEL

INTERIOR MIRROR

FFT SCREEN MNTG KIT

L.COWL PANEL GRILLE

R.COWL PANEL GRILLE

LWR REAR WINDOW MLDG

TAILGATE REAR SCREEN

Repair

R/R DOOR

TAILGATE (assuming back of my car)

These are the bits i dnt know for sure, but one thing I'm certain, that is the garage the insurance company assigned to fix my car is over charging.

I know for sure there was nothing wrong with the back of the car, and the back lights was fine.

On their estimate it came to 5k, but im sure is nowhere near that, as the bonnet was not replaced only popped back up and prob respray.

I need to go back to the garage to get front lip replace and my front windscreen spray connected.

Shall I call my insurance company and let them know? or shall i deal with the garage directly?

Thanks In advance.

Just attached pic, no way that damage is 5k worth.

Let the insurance company deal with it.

They would have sent an assessor out to the car before repairs were done, so they have a good idea about the damage, and they usually have legal teams who can deal with this sort of thing.

Your only concern where claims are concerned should be to pay the excess, collect the car, pay the price hike next renewal date. Everything else should be dealt with by the insurance company.

Don't forget, its not you being ripped off here, your excess will only ever be £500 maximum no matter how big or small the bill is.

Thanks Daveyonthemove,

Sorry I should explain more detailed, I got the car back, and the repair was done poorly, they said they replaced the parts, but I'm sure they used the old parts and pop up the dents, etc.

In addition, my car is in a state, Dirty with fillings (assume its the fillers), the top lining is not done correctly and is hanging a bit, they disconnect my front windscreen spray and not reconnect (they broke the nozzal off, as i can see that part still in the tube).

What is really questionable is they apparently replaced the grill but not the bumper, if there no damage on the bumper, how can the grill be damaged?

All the damage done is bonnet, front windscreen, and front top of roof, and the front lights dnt work.

Question is do I call my insurance company or garage to resolve?

Yes, call your insurance company ASAP and inform them that repairs were not satisfactory and you want to seek advice on rejecting it, or taking it to a better repairers. You need to keep them in the loop as they are paying the final bill and acting on your behalf.

As Dave has already pointed out if the repairs are sub standard then you need to push your insurance company to get it sorted out, you paid your premium you deserve to have satisfactory repairs carried out.

Even if parts have been charged for and not fitted I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for anyting being done about it unless you are willing to put your life on hold and persue it with single minded purpose! In fantasy worlds everything is always above board, the good guy always wins out and justice is always done ..... in the real world the odd bottle of spirits at Xmas and occasional brown envelope can go a long way to smoothing out the odd bit o trouble! Not that I'd in any way infer that this is the case here.

My 2 pence ... for what its worth ... concentrate on getting your car repaired to a satisfactory professional standard, try not to get caught up in whether the job was worth the money or what was charged for, that's up to the insurance company, just leave em to sort it out themselves.

Don't know if this applies in this case but I have often wondered how good a job "car insurance repairers" do opposed to Toyota dealer Bodyshops. I do know that they often use non Toyota body panels which may not be to the same standard as genuine Toyota parts. Don't forget you are not obliged to use the repairer the insurers recommend, you can use a Toyota Bodyshop & the insurers will still settle the bill.

If the car is under 3 years old Admirals contract is to use manafacturer parts and provide a guarentee for 5 years from their approved repairer. if your not happy ring admiral and speak to the accidental loss (ADL) claims handler.. its their file to settle so they'll want to make sure repairs are done ok
