Avensis Does Not Lock Automatically

Hi, i'm Josh in London, new here.

My second hand w reg 1.8 avensis works perfectly, but i have a problem.

It fails to lock automatically with the key, only unlocks, i have reset both keys, but still have the same problem.

Also when i open the door there is no internal light, it never worked from when i bought it hand, so i thought it just didn't have an automatic internal light. also the alarm has no sound at all, does not beep or go off or anything.

p.s. there's a dull thud when i try to lock it, so it is trying, but doesn't seem able to do it, although when i do it with the internal locking on the door it works fine. Also when i do the re programming of the keys, during the stage when it's supposed to lock and unlock etc there's just the same dull thudding.
