Rav4 Xa3 2006 - Plastic Covers Above The Rear Wheels

Gents,

Maybe it is stupid question, but:

- above the left rear wheel, there is a kind of plastic cover or something like that. but there is nothing like this on the right side of the car.

In both cases i'm talking about the front part of fender.

You can see it on the attached pictures.

Is it so designed or just my car doesn't have it?

Hi Tomek,

It looks strange to me as these are fitted to protect,amongst other things,the inner and outer wings from road debris thrown up by the wheels.

Could it be that someone removed it to work on the engine and then not replaced it?

My 2008 has a splash guard both sides. I think you have one missing. Has the bumper been removed at some time?

I'm talking about rear wheels.

I will try to make better pictures tomorrow.

I bought the car a couple of months ago.

Somehow (???) i did not see this issue before.

Just wondering..... is this plastic cover above the left rear wheel not the cover for the fuel piping from fuel opening to the tank?

I checked once again, and looks like you are right. Above the right rear wheel should be as well this plastic cover (front piece). Above the left rear wheel i have both pieces of this cover - front & back.

I was today by Toyota (removing those metal rings from my tires and putting new winter tires - VRedestein Wintrac 4xtrem) and by the way i was looking at the newest Toyota RAV4 - and it looks the same as my - above the right

rear wheel there is no this plastic cover which is above left rear wheel. Means - it looks exactly as my Toyota. So it is really designed like this.
