Gents,

What is the switching temperature point of the original thermostat for RAV4 4.3 2.2 D-CAT 177KM - is it 88°C or 82°C ??

I saw already both types in internet designated for this car.

regards

Tomek

It is factory fitted with an 82C thermostat.

I don't know what you are contemplating but I would urge you to take great care in changing that thermostat to an 88C;

There is nothing in the Toyota manual about an 88C version although I accept they are readily available.

There is potential with your FHV engine for cylinder head gasket problems.

It will not heat up any quicker - that is down to the thermal efficiency of the diesel and in particular the highly efficient design of the FHV.

Do I detect a vague suggestion that the heater on oil burning RAVs is as efficient as a landrovers heater???

Rather than muck about with the thermostat, I'd silicon up some of those draughty doors - 5 doors is just an extravagance! :lol: :lol:

The diesely Verso is just as ineffecient as the LR, maybe a tad worse :lol: If I could get a flex long enough I would have that old two bar electric fire with me at all times :rolleyes:

I didn't want to change the thermostat to a different one, that is why i'm asking.

The problem is on german moto webshops, where you can very easy find parts based on you Vehicle Identification Number.

I checked a couple of pages, and it shows me thermostats with 88°C switching temperature for my Toyota.

On one page it shows both types 82°C and 88°C.
