Can someone please tell me in an easy to understand way how the 4x4 system works on my 2006 Rav4 T180 is it permenant 4 wheel drive or is it 2 wheel drive and when the system detects wheel spin something happens just curious how in my mrs car in this weather it just spins everywhere but when I go in the Rav it just seems to grip and go.

Cheers

If you look under the name of Anchorman, and search his posts under "Rav drive system" or a similarly worded search, you should come up with his previously very eloquent explanation of how the system works.....and it is clever, very.

I only answer you in this way to save someone of his age re-typing it all again when he gets in from his job of training train drivers to stay in their beds when bad weather comes.....woops.....Pearl Harbour....I have awakened a sleeping bear.

You will basically start off in 4 wheel drive but as you increase speed it becomes 2 wheel drive, economy and all that. Search the forum I think Anchorman gives a good description on a thread.
