Avensis 2002 1.8

Hello!

New to this forum as I've only just bought my 2002 1.8vvti avensis.

Was enjoying the car until only after a few miles the oil warning light came on. There seems to be plenty of oil but reading various older threads it sounds like things may have gone horribly wrong! It's also sounding pretty rough.

I will be taking it back to the dealer I got it from, but if this fails does anyone know someone decent in the Glasgow/ Renfrew area who could look at it?

Also, if it is gubbed and does require major works to the engine does anyone have recent experience of how much this is likely to cost?

I didn't spend a huge amount on the car so would not want to be spending the same again to put it right...if that makes sense!

Oh, does anyone know if it's possible to conceal any problems with the car for the sale - i.e, could the dealer have known of this problem and polished over it, so to speak?

Any advice on this would be great, thanks.
