New Astral Black Rav4

Hi new member , getting my new Astrial Black(solid)Rav 4 on friday. Any advice on keeping the colour as clean/ scratch free/ waxed as possible . Have used hand washing and AutoGlym super resin polish in the past . This is the first solid colour car I`ve had in a long while , and wondered if anyone had any tips.

Hi Butt and welcome to the club. Good to have another member in Gloucestershire

As for keeping paintwork in tip top condition, a coating of a good quality Carnauba based wax [of which there are many] every now and again, after a thorough clean and polish will usually do the trick. A mamber called Bluevortex is your man for detailing advice

Don't envy you the task with a solid black finish though - it always looks stunning when done properly but is a b*g**r to keep that way, especially on the roads we have around here.

The main points are: wash it often, use decent shampoo, don't use a pressure washer AND get a big tub of elbow grease for polishing!

My XT5 is Astral Black and IMHO nothing looks better when it is clean ( and polished! ), however with the number of time you will need to wash it to keep it imaculate you will be able to cancel you gym membership Enjoy the RAV they are something special - particularly in this weather!

I recommend using this combo:

I used it on my Mazda3 MPS and the other half's mini and it works a treat. Wash and dry, then apply the Blackhole and finally the Nattys paste in a thin coat. The more coats of Nattys, the better. I lasts for months, only need a quick detail spray to bring it back after the next several washes.
