Help With Fuel Economy D4D ?

Hi everyone, sory to appear a numptie !

I wondered if anyone could give me some hints / tips here !!

Im a returning Rav owner, up until a few months ago I loved my 2000 petrol Rav but had to sell it as I just couldnt afford the fuel anymore when I changed location with my job ....... obvious to say Ive missed it since the moment I handed over the keys (as did my dog !) and I lasted until the snow before I had to admit I couldnt live without one anymore..

So anyway, been out and blown my savings on a 2004 XT3 D4D, but am finding the fuel economy a little confusing (well the trip must be lying to me ?? !!)

Obviously Im used to driving the petrol version and changing up gear earlier.... but my trip is telling me that my fuel ecenomy is far higher if I stay in a lower gear (forever !)

Can anyone give any good advice on a) believing the km/l on the trip B) best way to drive the diesel version over the petrol ?

I guess ill have to ignore the trip then as it tells me that economy drops dramatically when I change up early !

I find on my car that I like the feel better if I change up at around 2000 rpm if accelerating. Also not going over 3000 rpm in a gear unless I really want to pour the fuel down the exhaust :o

You do know that it can show mpg if you want?

here you go. create an account and log your mileage / fuel...

None of us will get very good fuel consumption in this weather. The fuel ratio is up the wall with these very low ambient temperatures. If you were to go on a good trip and cancel the ave consumption it might show some decent figures but don't read too much into it now.

It defaults to km/l if you disconnect the Battery.
