Egr On Mr2 Turbo?

I discovered that our MR2 turbo has (Exhaust gas recirculation system) as I went through the owner's manual. It will help to reduce the combustion temperature and subsequenty reduced Nox. But the draw back is less efficient, less power output and hence higher fuel consumption. Has anyone tried to disable it?
