Power Door Mirrors

Yet another question from little old me.

Can the power door mirrors be folded manually on my rav?

Only reason i ask is some t****r decided that the massive amount of space on my passenger side wasnt enough for him, so folded the mirror inwards.

I didn't realise this until i turned the ignition on and heard the motor noise and saw it moving back. This panicked me as i've never known the mirrors to move on their own without me using the button, and have no idea why it did it when i turned the ignition on.

Yes, they can  If you push firmly from the front they will manually fold in - safety feature I guess.

I suppose it was simply re-setting itself.

Something to watch for in this cold weather is the mirror casing getting fozen up - trying to fold electronically could damage the motor if the body of the mirror is frozen to the bracket

What's the weather like up there in East Anglia?

The weathers not to bad at the moment, which is a pity as i wanted to test out the vsc/traction control after getting some advice on another thread on here.

If you park your car, press the button to fold your mirrors, then turn ignition off, then release the button, as soon as you turn your ignition on the mirrors will open out, its a good way of remembering to do so, as you see the odd car driving around with the mirrors still folded.. Stew

Aye, Stew....been that soldier. Drove "a considerable distance" AFTER JOINING the M6 having stopped at a service station for a wee. Begs the question what mirrors did I look in to join said motorway...?

I "pre-switch" them now as you have said.

Big Kev

It was pre-switching that alerted me to the problem of freezing up. Started the car and heard the mirror motors straining against the ice. Now give the bracket/body assembly a spray of de-icer when I do the screen
