Hi Guys,

I have broke my screen for my sat nav unit in my 2007 Rav 4 whilst i was loading some DIY stiff at wicks last night. I need to get it reapired or buy a new or second hands unit. Please can any one help as a new one is way too much and i can not afford it. I need it before my wife gets back from a work trip

Sounds to me like you have a choice of 3 options.

1) buy a new unit - very expensive and maybe still not quick enough

2) find a 2nd hand unit, from a write-off perhaps? - again unlikely to be quick enough

but not as expensive

3) grovel unconditionally when the wife returns

You have our sympathies....

:crybaby:

Like this one? RAV4 Head Unit

Update your details - we don't know what model you're driving.

Just watch out for delivery times - couriers are dealing with a huge backlog and the indicated time could go on.

There are aftermarket ones, which are probably better than the Toyota one. This is from an old thread: RAV4 Head Unit Replacement

And cheaper than the eBay one.

I've no idea about supplier, unit reliability or how easy to swap over (i.e. caveat emptor).

But there are other options out there.

Just for info, We had a member that broke the touchscreen and replaced it with one from another unit:

but the complete replacement unit is probably your easiest solution.

Also, for info, the screen assembly is easily removed. Open it up, undo the two screws at the side on the screen bracket and an easy disconnect of a ribbon cable. The screen assembly has to be removed to reassemble the complete sat nav properly, although the whole thing will come apart without removing the screen.

I bet the touchscreen itself can be sourced, but I haven't had the screen assembly apart to look for a part number. :nono: :D.
