Camera Databsae

I have been playing around trying to do similar, but the SD card (If it's a TNS510) is encrypted and I can find info on POI's but can't get to write anything back to a new SD Card and get it to run.

A good starting point to go from is the GPS underground forums, there are lot's of developers / programmers etc there that can help.

The Avensis GPS system works off a DVD so cannot be updated unless the disc is changed, as for a camera database I am not aware if this is part of the DVD.... the hard drive is not part of the GPS!

Well I have subscription of pocket gps world. They give you option to update 3 systems at a time for camera database.

They are brilliant.

Update my Garmin, iPhone and nokia.

Helped them to develop camera database for one of iPhone application.

I wish I had new avensis and I could play with GPS and work on its database.

If somebody can tell me, if new avensis already come withd data base, and what sort of files avensis recognize for GPS, I can still configure.

Cheers.

I may be getting confused (very likely) but there is no DVD for my car the updates can only be done at the main dealers via a software update, as per the Toyota site which you can buy the dvd's from there is no available DVD for my car so i assume it must be part of the hard drive system where the music is stored as the site tells owners of the hard drive models to go to the main dealers for updates to maps and the gracenote updates.

Phoenix999, the latest Avensis has a hard drive based sat nav, not DVD. It is updated by dealers via a mini USB port behind the display screen.

The Avensis T4 and T-Spirit have the Hard drive based premium (ish) Navigation system that needs to be updated by a dealer.

The TR spec has the TNS510 which uses an SD Card, albeit encrypted to store the mapping data, so in theory it "could" be relativley easy to add things like POI's to a TR spec running the TNS510 (Such as mine) but not really possible with the HD based systems of the T4 and T-Spirit.

I have copied my TR's SD Card based software, purely to try to manipulate POI's but can't get it to write it correctly back to a fresh SD Card, because when it does it just goes sheep eating crazy and then moans about having no Nav on the SD.

The TNS510 interface looks very WinCE, like a lot of the Chinese based models, Whitson, Zennec etc, so I intend to do some more digging to find out a bit more about the TNS510, if it was a WinCE based system, then again it should be possible to replace the Toyota Nav software with TomTom or IGO for example.

To Summarise :)

T4 / T-Spirit - HD Based Premium System

TR - SD Based system (TNS 510)

Kool, what is the file format of POI on TR Navigation?

If you know the type, it will definitely help you to add camera data base.

All you need is POI adding software for that extension, download same type of files from pocket gps world.

Mix them with your old POI or new one from poecket GPS and add it to system.

One thing I must admit, that you are right as the system sounds like system Windows CE5.

Let us know how you get on with it. Give me a shout if you need help.

Cheers.
