Cd Player Not Working On Yaris

No sound comes from the radio cd player or cassette on my 2002 yaris it displays radio stations tells you what track is playing but no sound, I was told it can be a common problem and the part would cost €100,

Anybody any ideas what might be causing it.

Make sure that all the plugs at the rear of the unit are firmly connected. Other possible causes are a blown output amplifier due to wrong type and/or bad wiring to extra Speakers (excessive load).

I've read on here that they can fail. There are quite a few that sell on eBay for £50 or so.....
