Ive just been given a hiace which is going to be converted into a camper van ,,, my question is why has it got 2 12vlt batteries that are joined together,,

It has already got a Battery fitted for the interior light but i need the replace the main batteries ...

could anyone help with some info as to why there are 2

It could be that the vehicle has a 24v starting system. The rest will run on 12v. My Land Cruiser had 2 large batteries and I am sure it was purely for the starting.... I think :huh::lol:

Please don't go and change them unless you have them tested first.... any decent garage will be able to load test them to see if the plates are ok. Sometimes a complete renewal of the acid with the cells being flushed can give extra life to a Battery as frequently there is sludge at the bottom of the cells which causes a short circuit. Ask an automotice electrician and maybe you can save yourself a few quid.

However if you are satisfied that the batteries need replacing then go for it. Good luck :thumbsup:
