Oh Dear........

Hi, just aquired my second Rav4( 95 2.0 pauper spec), got a short wheelbase one this time. Anyway, we have problems :- Flat spots during excelleration, missing & occasional rough idling. Have done all the usual checks for Head gasket failure, plugs look ok, nothing obvious stands out. Any ideas would be greatfully recieved. thanks.

You are looking too hard. Change the plugs, leads and dizzy cap (if it has one)and check the leads to the distributor or coil pack (whichever it has).

Lift your bonnet and run your enhine in the dark see if you can see any arcging from the ht leads etc.

I once had similar problems to you and it turned out to be a dodgy ht lead.
