Hey guys. Its been long time since i posted here anything. I am still driving my Avensis, which i though it was unfortunate buy, but touch wood i am i am quite happy with the car. Didnt have any major issues or unexpected bills, sailed MOT no problem. With this great weather conditions i have put winter tyres on, better to be safe than sorry.

I have noticed that after cold night, i am struggling a little bit with starting my car. i suspect that it might be the Battery. Was thinking to get new one, but the concern is will it mess up with the alarm codes while disconnected? Cheers

It should be fine.

A common method for resetting the ECU to improve the cars driveability is to disconnect the Battery for 20-30 mins, and i have never known an alarm to play up afterwards. As far as i know, the alarm has its own Battery so it should be able to cope without a Battery for a few mins while you swap it over.

I recently replaced the Battery in my car and disconnecting and reconnecting the Battery actually fixed a problem I had with an electric window. The alarm wasn't affected nor the radio by replacing the Battery. I bought a Lion (calcium) battery from Eurocarparts for £55 (my car only needs the 56Ah one). The 71Ah one you're considering is probably meant for a diesel engine.

Sorry to ask a question

Since OP asked if Battery change can mess up with alaram code.

Just wondering, my car did not come with PIN for alaram. How can I find it (other than paying hefty bills to Mr T)?

Cheers.

The alarm doesn't have a PIN, it's linked to the remote fob in the key.
