I could be being really fussy, but the 10 and part of the 20 area on my speedo appear slightly dimmer than the rest of the numbers when illuminated with the headlights on. This is particularly noticable in the (duller) daytime when headlights are required. It is also noticable at night, but the numerals are still fully lit and readable.

There is a definate difference when compared to the '10' part of '110' and it is slightly irritating. Is there a bulb (or LED) in that area that has blown or just normal?

This is normal. There are no bulbs.

The speedo is lit bij a total of 4 LEDs: one for the display,

one to illuminate the needle and two illuminate the dial-face.

These last two are positioned at roughly the 30 and 90mph positions

and their light is spread through a bit of plastic optics and partially

shielded by the back-print of the faceplate (there are a minimum

of 3 layers of ink on the back of your speedo-dail-face).

Of you also have a tachometer: this is lit by just two LEDs,

these light the dailface and neelde all at once, yet

again through some plastic optics and shielding by ink.

I've modified quite a few of these to illuminate

blue, red or even white in the past year or two :P

As I said earlier, there are nu bulbs.

And replacing the LEDs involves dismantling the entire speedometer...

Jan i'm a newcomer here, i'm from Italy and today i've tried with a friend of mine to change speedo led from orange to blue. We've got some troubles when we had to put off the white plastic part from the brown plastic, but the main problem is that we don't know how to remove the display. I've read on another forum that it needs to be desoldered with a desoldering wire. Can you explain me step by step how to remove it? Can it be lifted only when it's on the white plastic or it will broke? We've got stuck here, so close to the end...Sorry for my bad english, i urgently need a hand please.

Jan, do you know anyone in North East England who would do the LED change of the speedo? Going to do the centre console myself, but messing about with circuit board is a bit beyond me...
