There - that got you looking.

Christmas is a time of great stress kitchenwise. Go on, add to it. Announce you are going veggie, print off the following recipe and hand it to the cook in the house. For maximum effect don't do this until 8am on Christmas Day. Not sure whether the quantities below are per person; if so, you may jusy have invented your own personal snow blower. :clown:

Have a really good Christmas everybody and if you are :driving: keep very safe :newyear:

Sprout Curry

1.5 kilos fresh, green Brussels sprouts (washed and outer leaves removed)

250 fl oz. Water

½ tsp Salt

25g Butter

1 Onion, peeled and finely chopped

2 ½ tsp Curry Powder

½ tsp Ground Coriander

¼ tsp Ground Ginger

1. Using a sharp knife, make a small cross in the base of each sprout and place in a large saucepan. Cover with cold, salted water. Leave to soak for 30 minutes. Drain and place in the 250 fl oz. of water and the salt. Bring to the boil then simmer for 15 minutes or until soft. Drain and mash to a pulp using a potato masher.

2 Meanwhile, melt the butter in a large frying pan. Add the onion and cook until transparent but not brown.

3. Add the sprout pulp to the frying pan and stir over a low heat until the sprouts are heated through.

4. Stir in the curry powder, ground coriander and ginger and cook for a further 15 minutes.

5. Serve piping hot.

Next week an exciting recipe for sprout trifle: First dye your custard a delicate shade of green................

2 errors in the recipe -

1. tablespoon of chilli powder

2. 1 packet of frozen spinach.

This taken from actual experience.

Oh, what a pity, due to adverse weather, our local store is very low on sprouts. Sprout rationing in place. :shutit:

Did you see the "Bacon Scented" car air freshener one "Top Gear" the other night? Might be needing one after that

WOW! that could create enough methane to run your Rav on let alone a snow blower  It will certainly brighten up boxing day, wasn't there a song (I woke up to a burning ring of fire) or similar :newyear: Stew :blowup:

Speaking as an ex-curry powder and spice salesman (yes really, for 10 years back along) ISTR it is ginger that has a Hindi colloquial name that translates as the ring of fire because of the effect on that part of the anatomy. Another affects the lips, yet another produces perspiration of the forehead blah blah :arabia:
