I know this says it is for the 4efte conversion, but will this work on the 5efe, and if so, will it improve performance at all?

I think they're the same, but I'd have to check. No point fitting one unless yours has failed.

Well, I figured that since it was for the starlet, it would be a higher capacity water pump, improving cooling and performance. i guess i was wrong?

Andrew's right, they are the same. Just checked on ADL cd rom parts catalogue and they list the same part number for 4efte and 5efe. So there'd be no improvement, save your money
