Code Reader And Mil

I'm having lots of error codes and expense with my September 2000 X reg Avensis 1.8 vvti.

Paid garage for Catalyst, o2 sensors etc - In fact Trading Standards are investigating.

I'm not throwing any more cash to the garage so I am about to order a code reader on eBay - Autel MS309. (Hoping my car is EOBD/OBD2 compliant)

Might sound silly, but can I use the device to switch off the MIL (engine management light) without erasing the fault codes in memory?

Thanks for any advice

Jim

Usually you delete the codes to remove the light.

Thought that might be the case. Thanks Davey.
