hi... my avensis is hesitating at low rpm. its very bad in 1st-3rd but once hit 2800-3000rpm the car bursts into life. Now the engine light is on.. done a diagnostic and the cat converter (maniverter) is shot... would this be the problem? also i was getting around 420 miles average to the tank.. now im gettin 280-300 miles to the tank...

would i be better off buyin brand new cat or try 2nd hand one? they are very pricey from the local toyota dealer :(

It could be clogged and needs to regenerate?

What sort of journeys do you do?

Hey thanks for the reply... its a good bit of both.. alot of motorway driving and town id say 60/40 town/motorway

maybe the cat is clogged? i have noticed some days it drives fine and others lacking power below these revs.. when on motorway in 4th if accelerating i notice some flat spots.. right up to 4-5krpm

the engine has alot of miles (163k) maybe its time for a rebuild?
