Hmmm... Yaris Sr - Tte...

Recently purchased a lovely little Yaris SR, W reg so the older shape.

It came with a few bits the standard SR's dont normally have, these include..

TTE full stainless exhaust (has the little tte engraving on the end)

TTE suspension

TTE spoiler (again with the little Badge in the centre)

Now, I cant seem to find much info on 'Toyota Team Europe' other than...

Certain parts were banned from being used on vehicles competing after 1995..

Only certain 'TTE' parts are obtainable and/or replacable as they are no longer manufactured..

And, other than that, I dont seem to have established much! Lol

Im lookin more at the basics :-)

Were they factory optional extras? Or after market mods?

Does the exhaust actually make any performance difference? Or was it installed to deafen people? :-) teehee

Can I purchase other 'TTE' bits for my car?

Does any1 else have 'TTE' mods on their cars?

Any info much appreciated,

Thanx :-)

Mine's the same age and model as yours so welcome!

The TTE parts you mention were standard on the 1.3sr and yes, my exhaust is quite loud aswell but you get used to it. Can't say if the exhaust gives anymore performance as i've never drove a standard 1.3 Yaris but it does sound good and certainly makes the car feel faster than what it is.....even though they are not slow anyway! :D

TTE also did some side body skirts and iirc a slightly different front bumper with foglights built in. They also did some different alloy wheels but i think the standard sr wheels are the nicest ever fitted to a Yaris.

I used to have access to a link showing a piccie of the Yaris with all the TTE bits on it but can't find it now sorry. Maybe somebody else knows it on here.

Ahhh, thankyou very much :)

Yes I agree, I have the standard SR wheels on mine & I like them better than others I have seen.

The exhaust isn't as loud as some of the cars we have had but when I first heard it I was abit shocked that such a cute lil' car made such a racket! lol

I found some TTE front bumpers for Yaris but they were to fit the next model? :/

Im quite happy with the way it looks anyway, very subtle, so I unless the price was right I don't think I'd be tempted to fiddle with it :)

Is that yours in your piccy? Mines gold :)

I originally went out intending to buy a Golf GT TDI, lol, instead came home with the Yaris, no regrets tho, It averages between 35/40 mpg, & on long journeys it can get well above 60mpg, dont think it would have saved much if I had the diesel!

The other thing I wanted to ask, Mine has done alot of miles.. Ahem.. 105k, so I got it abit cheaper, It has full service history until 3 years ago & since then just the receipts for any bits & bobs that have been done/replaced, the usual, Battery, brakes ect.. There was no advisorys in the previous M.O.T (June 2010) due to the high milage, is there something I should be considering to change b4 its too late? ie.. if it was a diesel I would have done the cambelt straight away, I have a receipt to say the Yaris had a cambelt done at 40k, but that was clearly along time ago :/

No cambelt on any Yaris - all chains. Probably the alternator drive belt...

If I were you, a full service including the pollen filter (which is usually neglected - under the glovebox) - would be best for longevity. Use only Toyota filters.. and 3-30 semi synthetic oil..(synthetic is overkill).

And change the antifreeze.. life is 10 years - OAT...

Ahh, thanx, see ya learn something new everyday, i have a reciept that says 'something' belt, whoever wrote it should have been a doctor! Lol.

They can be my missions for the new year then!

Ive had a mate look at my ridiculously noisey exhaust and it appears to have had different cat back on,and very recently too! Noisey lil devil it is! Lol

Thanx 4 the tip on the oil, i would have just used the same as i did in my last car, think it was 10/40 or something like that.

I used Castrol Edge fully synth last service, my car allways does short runs as it's used as the 2nd car, so i needed the engine to have full protection from a quality oil especially over winter when it may not get used for 2-3 days then used for a 5-10 mile run.

Normal 10-40 oil is fine for normal use though.

So your exhaust has been fiddled with then? No wonder it's loud!

Oh and don't worry about the mileage, 105k is nothing for these engines so long as there's serviced when need be. Mine's done 87k and still drives the same as it did 4yrs ago. I service it myself though, it's really easy to do basic servicing on and you can tell when the camchain needs attention cos it wll start to rattle.

Alternator belt needs changing on mine, thanks for the reminder madfish. :)

I like to do most service bits where I can, my partner always has nearly new cars so they get serviced at a dealers but I love the good old dinky toys we can have a play with :-) although I will stick to using genuine parts on this car as my others gradually faded into multifacturer cars after years of replacing bits with whatever we could find! Lol.

Can any1 tell me where on my car the sensor is for the locking system, ive replaced both batterys in both keys I have, yet they only work when they feel like it!.. Sometimes i can lock with keyfob but it wont re-open using the fob! Is this common or is mine just a fussy lil bugger? Lol

My exhaust has prompted my partner to now go and get his changed tomoro! Haha, Exhaust UK here we come :-) (i can never have anything better than him when it comes to cars) :-)
