please will somebody tell me where the air filter is, and is it easy to remove to check

Hi.

The air filter is in the large black box, to the right of the engine block / cover (when stood in front of your car looking at the engine).

Not sure of location of clips of the 1.6 SR, but mine (SR180) has 2 small metal clips on the front and left edges holding it closed.

Check for any wiring around the box, check for plastic clips trying to hang so you don't snap them.

Ping the two metal clips off then pull the lid of the box upwards. The air filter will be immediately visible.

That should be job done, easy.
