Exhaust Vs Insurance

As a few of you know, i am with directline and they wont let me mod my motor. i have just brought a 4x6 Magnex oval exhaust :D if i put it on and was to say to them my exhaust has fallen off and i had to replace it, would they screw me over if i was to crash? if they would can you give me any other advice, cheers guys, Chris

i have some sympathy with the insurers. They will percieve a young driver with a modded car to be more of a risk. together with which if they did start making mods permisable then they'd need to hire a room full of experts to analysis the impact of every mod and combination of mods on every vehicle. it's a bit unworkable so i'd suggest finding a specialist insurer. apologies if i got your age wrong

nah, thats alright, you were right anyway, im 17. i have got wait till december till my insurance runs out anyway till i change. do you think that telling them i have replaced my exhaust will work? Cheers

phone them and tell them you need to replace the exhaust on your car but a stock one is too expensive, and ask of it matters if you get an aftermarket one fitted for less than half the price, if they say yes ask why, if they say no then ask for the persons name and note the time and date of the call.

Make sure you tell them its not a 'performance exhaust' or anything like that, just a replacement.
