4.3 Washer Bottle Leaking?

Hi All

Quick question, during the recent freezing temperatures I have not been able to use my windscreen washers due to them beeing frozen.

However with the tropical temperatures today I thought I would have a go and filled them up, the front worked fine (with the exception of a broken washer jet new one currently on order) but the rear has refused to spray any water. I hear the pump running so I know that they are working.

Also the water has lasted no time at all so I wonder if one of the pipes has seperated to the rear window wash and my water is just pumping straight out?

Anyone else had any problems?

Cheers

Guess the first thing we need to find out ( I'd be interested too ) is the routing of the pipe from the pump to the rear door. It's just possible that someone has a diagram perhaps?

I haven't got a clue how to work photobucket since they "made it better" so if anyone has any ideas on how to attach a picture I can show you that it runs along the drivers side sill to the rear door.

I'm afraid that washer systems left without the proper solution are prone to frost and cracking just the same as the radiator is. I don't understand it.

I used the "Attach This File" to post a photo on the current "dog guard" thread. OK with files up to 2Mb.

Ok I will have a look tomorrow when it is dry, I must be loosing the water from somewhere as I managed to empty the complete tank in about 30 mins today when I was out.

P.S was in at the toyota dealer today and they now have a 20 week waiting list on the diesel manual Rav's so if anyone wants a new one before next winter best place your orders now!!! :D

snap - I have a problem with number 1 RAV. By standing it on top of snow, I found a leak near the front and another towards the rear so guess that 2 unions have split...despite having a high concentration of mix in it obviously didn't cope with the -20C.

I'll live with it until I need to take the car in for a service and its up on a ramp as I'm not lying around on frozen ground unless drunk !

Problem solved, found out that the connection to the back had become disconnected up near the water bottle, took 5 mins of fiddling trying to bring the pipe back up and hey presto it works again.

Saying that I then took the notion to wash the car and now found out that I now have 2 broken fog lights (again I think that these must be because of the low temperature and having warm bulbs behing the glass).

Ohh well that goes with the cracked windscreen, grrrrrrrrr I hate the winter roads!

Not aware of any others. Do you think somebody has been spiteful?

Nahh I honestly think that it was the weather over the past few weeks I had the fog lights on most days due to the snow / fog and some days it was down to -20 on the way to work. It looks like both have cracked in similar positions, not sure if they are original Toyota as I have a xt3 so they may have been aftermarket ones, not sure.

XT3s didn't have fog lights so maybe your suspicions are right.
