Light Switch Is Off: Light's On! How Is That Possible?

When the light switch of my Carina is off, the tail lights will go off, but the head lights stay on!

How is that possible? Now i have to disconnect one of the Battery cables, in order to switch the lights of, otherwise the Battery goes flat.

Any ideas? thanks! Loukie.

I would start with the stalk. Any breakers or scrappies near you? Try another stalk on see what happens.

Hi mate, and how do go on when you do disconect your Battery leads does the immobiliser and or your alarm not kick in? if not have you disconected them previously? In either event dont you have any trouble trouble re-starting the engine?

Your immobiliser and alarm should have a back up Battery so it won't make any difference. I have disconnected the Battery from the carina i am currently breaking for spares and i connect back up once or twice a week to start the car.

Sticky light relay, I think.

I've had this problem after swapping the radio for a new one. If I remember rightly, went away after jiggling the big bunch of wires in behind the radio. Loose connection/short?

The front lights and the rear lights use 2 different relays. I could be a bad relay to the front lights.
