Flashing Dashlight And Laboured Idling

Hi all, new to this forum and already needing a little advice

My wife's rav4 started playing up yesterday. The engine management light started flashing yellow and there was a sudden loss of power. On idle it dosen't run right, it's as though it's lost use of a cylinder by the feel of it. We've already changed two senors about 6 months ago and everything was running great until now.

Could someone advise me what to do please as we need to keep the cost down and a toyota dealer is out of the question, especially as my wife was treated like dirt the last time she visited for the sensor problem.

Hi plodger....

Few questions...what year is it? Petrol/diesel?

I can't offer much help, but from reading various posts on here, people will need to know a bit more detail about the Rav to help...so may as well get that ball rolling for you.

Cheers

Forgot to add the oil on the dipstick smelt a bit burnt even though I changed the oil about 6 months ago

Any replies appreciated

Plodger.

You need to read the code stored in the ECU. There are plenty of posts showing you how to do it. We can then guide you what to do next :thumbsup:
