Another Key Question

Hi Guys

As some of you will know I recently purchased a 2001 rav d4d gx which came with only the valet key.

Well it turns out it was the dealer who lost the master key as I managed to contact the original owner from the log book.

The original owner searched and managed to find the other 2 button master key :) (That saved me plenty of dosh :)) which they have sent to me.

I have searching on eBay to buy another master key that I could reprogram and fit a new blade in.

Some of the keys say they are a valeo with a model number.

I have examined the key but can find no name or serial number on it.

Has any one any idea as to what model key I would have for a 2001 rav?

Cheers Jim

One of the keys that came with my 03 D4D were falling apart (the metal and the button casing was separating). I ordered one of these:

I had a shoemaker cut the new key to match one of the other keys and I swapped over the electronic thingie with the two buttons. The shoemaker asked me if I needed to program the new key, so I guess he could have fixed that as well.

But I have no idea where to get the electronic part of the key, maybe at a car scrapyard?

Thanks for the info guys.

What I need to know Sensei is what model of electronic part I need to get.

I cant find anything on the key to say what it is and there appears to be different models.

The plip key is no use without the original but you can get keys programmed to fit the ignition. There is a place near here that does it for about £40. They just drop it into a receiver and read the code then program and cut a new key. I can get it done for you but you'd have to send me a working spare key.

Thanks for the offer Anchorman :)

I thought the key I had now got (Photo attached) was a master key.

So that I would now be able to reprogram onother key from it if I got one with the same electronics inside it.
