Hi there , first post and would really appreciate any advice from anyone familiar with The yaris electrical system.

Long story short , car ( 2003 1.0l 5 door ) was loaned out and Battery apparently drained. Then the car was jump started using a

mitsubishi pajero. Long wheel base if it makes any difference, amps? The main ALT 120 amp fuse blew. This has been replaced and the car still doesn't start. Have reset ecu by disconnecting Battery and have disconnected ecu itself. No joy. Have no tools to get codes from ecu. car turns over fine.No smell of petrol in engine bay. Have also yet to check for spark , that's tomorrow.

All other fuses seem fine. how likely is this to be the ecu ? How much are we talking for a replacement part ?

Any help much appreciated.

thanks.

That's a tricky one. I wonder if they have had the ignition circuit live as they made the connection. Just something daft to try - if you have a spare key, try using that to start the car. Was a common problem on Civics, that a jump start with the ignition on knackered the immobiliser chip in the key.

But it does sound like they may have done some electrical damage. You need to get it to a specialist to diagnose the fault or it could cost a fortune replacing spare parts.
