Hi

A friend who has an 04 plated rav was told by the local dealer that it isnt 4 wheel drive all the time and it comes in and out when required. This correct?

Also - reverse same as forward for 4 wheel system

and last

in another post someone mentioned they engaged AWD lock - how so?

Thanks

If that 4.2 Rav4 is an ' NV ' model..it will only be 2wd i believe, its the only version in the range that didnt have full time 4wd.As its bottom of the range model.

The AWD button was a feature of the 4.1 and I think perhaps something similar was on a later model - can't remembered as I come out of my New Year haze !

Hi

my 4.1 had the manual awd lock , but when I changed to the 4.2 that had gone and the 4wd and locking function is all automatic, I'm pretty sure drive is split 60% front 40% rear on a full time basis with a limited slip diff.

No it isn't. Its a mechanical drive so it can only be 50:50
