T180 - 3 Check System Lights On Together

Recommended Posts

Just driving back from a mates and 3 check system lights have come on together.

These are:

Check engine system

Check VSC system

Check 4WD system

The manual says this is a malfunction of each system but would all 3 malfunction at the same time?

Is there a way of clearing this or is it a trip to Mr T?

Thanks in advance for your advise.

Hi Steve

It's probably a blocked EGR valve, which is a common fault thanks to our rubbish diesel!

You'll need to get the fault code to make sure. If it is that, you can clean the EGR valve yourself, but would need someone to reset the fault code for you.

Hope that helps

The instructions are pinned and you can get rid of the light by disconnecting the Battery.

Thanks for the advise guys. Cleaned the EGR about a month ago due to poor acceleration from idle speed so don't think it will be blocked already. Is there anything else I can try?

It could be the CAT. When I first got the T180, within a week I had the same 3 warnings. Turned out the fault code pointed to the CAT. Seemingly there is a modified CAT with a bigger bore pipe the other was prone to blocking, not to familiar as it was replaced under warranty. They checked the EGR at the same time, it was a bit sooty but not too bad, but they cleaned it any way. The second time I had the warning lights this time the Rav went into limp mode, it was after driving around the Lake district for a week using supermarket fuel. Warning code pointed to the EGR, they removed it and was heavily sooted and stuck, I think open. There is a modified EGR that I had replaced under warranty. Since then, about 18 months or so I have not had any problems but I do use BP Ultimate. Hope this helps.

Buy yourself a code reader for about £25 and take the guesswork away.

Did a search on this forum and found a post by Steve-Jeep who had the same problem. He found one of the hoses from the DPF to the pressure sensor to be blocked and cleared this by blowing compressed air into the blocked hose to clear it. I've just checked the hoses on mine and also found one blocked so have now cleared the blockage. I then disconnected the Battery for a minute to take off the check system lights, reconnected the Battery and then took the car for a run for a few miles. The lights have stayed off so I am keeping my fingers crossed the problem is now sorted.

Thanks all for your help and I'll keep you posted.
