Running A Diesel With 2 Stroke Oil Added

I have been reading a lot about diesel owners adding a bit of 2 stroke oil to there fuel as the low sulphur diesel is also low lubricate diesel and this shortens the life of fuel pump, injectors and so on. A lot of people seem to claim that there diesel cars give less smoke out and run better with this added, I was wondering if anyone here as ever heard about this?

I have tried it on my last car, but never really saw any difference.

I think most newer cars are fine on the diesel on the forecourts today as they are set up differently and designed to work in a more economical way.

If i recall, you need to use low ash content oil if you are going to try it, but i can't remember the exact spec code that i tried as i was using 300ml per tankful and after the bottle had gone i didn't bother again.

ULSD grade diesel has extra lubricants added to compensate for it anyway, usually in the form of some small biodiesel blend.

If you can source higher biodiesel blends, those have even better lubricity (But you will need to change your fuel filter after the first tank! ;))

Basically there isn't much to worry about :)

It does sound a bit sus to me tho'; 300ml in a 70L tank makes that much difference??

Millers economax recommend 50ml per 50 litres. 300ml per tankful would probably be more use, but might even be overkill?

Personally i don't think its needed these days, but it doesn't hurt to add a few drops for peace of mind.
