I have taken my Previa to the local Toyota agents to have a look at this problem when on full lock the front wheels slip in momentarily in the same way as they do when you jack up the car and the wheels take up an increased camber angle. The agents checked all the steering and suspension ball joints and there does not appear to be anything worn or dangerous. They checked the toe in and that was said to be OK. There view was that they could start replacing joints and the problem could be cured but they may not pinpoint the actual cause. Has anyone else out there had a similar issue?

Now had an independent garage have a further examination of the Previa Steering and suspension and wishbone joints , wheel bearings etc , no problems found but did suggest inside of driver side tyre had some intermittent wear and maybe the cause of the problem. Theysuggested swapping tyres around. I have now had a new tyre fitted, unfortunately the problem remains.........any further ideas welcomed

Trying to think about this one and can't remember seeing the wheel looking odd on full lock. If the car has passed an MOT then I would imagine there can't be too much wrong. Is the tyre scuffing the inner wing?? Have you put different alloy wheels on?

Encouraged to receive your comments, This morning at the garage on the ramps the mechanic rotated both wheels on full lock, he did say that Previas do have quite a big lock and it is settable but it was not scuffing the inner wing. I had my wife reverse the car on the drive and what you can see is bottom of the tyre in contact with the drive slip inwards and then rolling as normal i.e intermittently slipping in , in the same way as the wheel tilts in when you lift the car on a jack and it takes up a camber angle. No changes made to the wheels, they are the originals, please keep thinking....

It looks like replacing the tyre has reduced the slipping although i think I am a bit hypersensitive to any feeling that seems at all like the original problem. Talking to an ownwer of Renault MPV he said he does have the same effect when on a hard lock and put it down to the limits of the steering geometry.

Thanks for your interest.

The wheels will look a bit odd on full lock - and remember the angle of each wheel will be different as well.

I'd still consider proper alignment checks being done. Even on my short wheelbase RAVs, the alignment alters over wear and usual abuse from crap roads.

Thanks again for your interest, aparently there is a local garage which has laser or light based measurement set up for alignment checks which I will investigate. With the new tyre fitted, the movement on full lock has disappeared, of course it doesn't mean there is still not an alignment problem.
