Squealing Auris Hsd

hello people,

i bought a new auris hsd just before christmas. on the first drive i got the wind noise (mentioned here already in another thread), and also a squealing noise on braking. not, by the way, a "squealy brakes from outside the car" noise; this was rather coming from inside the car; it sounded like an electric-based noise coming from the pedal.

anyway i put it down to the regenerative braking until the car started making more and more squealy noises at me. it does it now even during acceleration, when i'm nowhere near the brake pedal!

i am v sensitive to high-pitched noises (can hear armed alarm systems and those high-frequency mouse deterers, etc), and my partner struggles to hear these noises that my car is making at me. were it not for the fact that i am hearing them more and more often i would have just assumed it was a problem with my freaky ears, but i wonder if anyone else has had/is having this issue?

it's going in tomorrow to be looked at anyway, so i just hope the garage can hear what i can!

Sorry to hear that. Interestingly, the demo car I had for a day did make such noises, I believe it was from the inverter that gets the 206V Battery up to something around 600V. Thankfully, my own HSD does not make such noises but the dealer should be aware - of course, expect them to say they've never heard about this before - no pun intended!
