hello mate

- expansion tank lid gasket;

- thermostatic valve;

- themp sensor el contact;

- cyl head gasket;

- air pockets belong to cooling system;

- too many dirty inside the radiator;

- el fans are out of order;

- cooling pump fault

Cheers/Igor

Does it overheat quicker under load? That will be the head gasket...

hello mate

have you found an oil film inside of an expansion tank to conclude it is gasket?

The idea is that the colling system works under the pressure but not at atmospheric pressure subject to lid gasket is not tight !!! Compare your home kettle that boils water at 100 C and it is at atmospheric pressure. AS per the thermodynamic law the more pressure them more temperature -- in other words when system is under pressure (in case this gasket is in order)the coolant is not boiled at 100 C giving no overheating of the engine even under load. This small gasket creates a lot of issues when you do not expect it from her. Cheers/Igor

Hey mate ruled the headgasket out as there isnt any oil mixture in the coolant.. when she is at tempreture she isnt blowing any heat out at all so its like driving a sled in v.cold conditions sometimes.. driving to work today Wednesday the 5th Jan filled her up with coolant before leaving let it bleed through and it causes the car to over heat which causes me to break down.. Car company i got it from wont touch it even before the mechanic had a look at it

Im now currently broken down at 08:33am on the A11 because the car reached max temp although being driven against cold air..

hello again

ask yr mechanic to check with compression in each cylinder. Besides check with tension of the cooling pump driving belt and cooling pump itself. What is the fate of el cooling fans? + temp sensor contacts. Cheers/Igor

Not a clue with the el fans as they kick in... temp sensor could be but doesnt explain the loss of water after filling it to the max line indicated on the exp: tank, take it you havent come across this problem..

Sounds like the coolant might be entering the cylinder thats why there is no leaks, see if your exhaust fumes are quite steamy/condensation etc

So the exhaust is steaming like a kettle?

Get the head gasket checked out by a competent techie :)

Hey Guys, Thank you ever so much for all your help and information on this problem... We have sorted the problem and the problem was the Radiator, Although he said he couldn't see any steam coming out or anything like that..

Anyway Toyota Celica Gen 7's are notorious for their radiators getting bunged up with all sort of sh*t doesn't matter what get's in the radiator it can still get bung up.. Hense the water loss, as the radiator gets to temperature gets to full On what it should be the water starts moving through the system, as the water gets to the areas of the radiator it can't move so automatically drops pressure in the system...

So if you have ANY overheating problems. get the RADIATOR checked out first... £230 isn't bad for what I paid =) Considering he had it 4 weeks... AGAIN thank you all ever so much for keeping me updated with information....

Remember Radiators ;)
