Hi,

Just been quoted £267 for a 80k service on my Avensis. Last time it was a lot cheaper (£189 for a 20,000 service) does this sound right?

Many thanks,

M.

I paid £140 in December for a full service at dealers that included brake fluid change. There will be more VAT now but your quote seems pricy to me. Shop around.

Absolutely ridiculous now.

Rang another Toyota garage. Yeah we'll replace the brake fluid, filters, oil, etc. takes around 90 minutes and it only comes to £303.

I wish I could earn £303 in 90 minutes.

Onto ringing the next garage or if anyone has any recommendations around the Gloucester area I would only be to happy to hear them!

Finally. £161.63 with them replacing the brake fluid as well. Initially it was £330 but if they input the service in a different way (i.e. intermittent service + blake fluid change and the other full service bits) then they can get it a lot cheaper - might be worth an ask for anybody else out there.

Be interesting to see what they charge you for your engine oil. I have been quoted between £60 - £80 by Toyota for only 6L so before I drop my car off with them I always pop to Halfords and buy it there much cheaper. Oh, and don't accept a top up 1L bottle if they put it on your bill. Really expensive and not required.

It would be much cheaper to get filters and oil from the shop and get someone to change them for you. Thats what i did, all bits cost me around £80 and plus got mate to do it for me extra £20 :yahoo: . To go to the dealer for these kind of jobs is the same as throw money in the water, they will charge you a fortune. Eurocarparts is the best place for these things.

If you want to do it on the cheap you can get it done by any old mechanic. I was talking about getting the benefit of dealer support but at a lower cost by working out where they hide their profit margins. Either way, its your money so you pay your money and take your chance.
