Hi all,

I'm new here just wanted to hear peoples thoughts, After HG Failure on my Rover 75, I have test driven a Yaris 1.0 3dr Colour Collection 52reg (Nov 2002) with 106,000 on the clock, not sure on service history, but drives well, and its just flown though the MOT with nothing but the Wiper Blades needing replacing, would this car be worth considering on this mileage, as I have heard the engines are built like Tanks, if its any help the car is a French built model.

Look forward to hearing everyone's thoughts

Andy

If the price is right, go for it. They are strong engines, and if if drives okay, doesn't smoke when starting from cold, it should be fine.

106 000 miles is not at all excessive for a 2002 car in my opinion, if it drives well and the price is right then theres no

reason not to go for it. My thinking on these things (mileages) is that your better off with a higher mileage car in immaculate condition thats

maybe had some of that makes common faults sorted and what not - and is cheap on account of the miles. Rather then a low mileage car thats only had short

journeys and maybe not so good condition wise.

Best of luck with whatever you end up buying

Watch out for corroded radiators which go through salt. No a major expense but... Look for antifreeze stains.

And rear exhaust corrosion: near the join with the middle section.. the pipe curves around before the back box and eventually collapses.

Both good bargaining points if the rest of the car is good.

Sometimes cars with a higher than average mileage can be a better buy than one that has hasn't been very far or fast;

especially if the miles have been clocked up by lots of long, high speen runs.

At the time I found my Yaris I also spotted a Nissan Micra that was 6-7 years old, but had done only 7000 odd miles.

I was slightly tempted by the lowish price (less than £3000), but had in mind that it had done lots of slow short distance drives & then being parked up for a few days.
