Just ordered some Greenstuff brake pads for the front wheels, but realised that they might not be suitable for OEM discs?

Celica 190 (2001)

Will I get away with it or is this a really bad idea?

Im using greenstuff on my OEM discs, and it seems ok, and it really does produce less brake dust too

Good excuse to dump the "made of cheese" OEM Discs :)

What would you recommend then for more 'every day' needs?

Bear in mind that I don't completely hammer it - obv the Lift gets used fairly often but rarely race with anyone..... hence why I went for the Greens not Reds.

Anything suitable on a budget that will be much better than OEM?

Mintex, Ferodo or Red Dot are three names that spring to mind. My 275mm front OE Discs lasted just 6000 miles before corrosion on the inside faces of the Disc caused me to opt for a better quality steel. I chose Red Dot Discs and Pads back in 2006 and they are still fine. It's a shame Toyota fitted such poor quality Discs and alloys on the Gen 7 as the rest of the (face lift) car is almost faultless.

If you want to improve the braking on the Gen 7, then the best option using EBC's is: Turbo grooved discs all round, Red Stuff pads (or Yellow), braided brake line & 5.1 brake fluid.

However if you've got the funds, then go for a BBK. Some nice 4 pot calipers with 324mm discs! Fantastic & you wouldn't believe the stopping performance over EBC's! :D
