Scratch Repair

Can anyone please provide some advice on any or all of the following:

on repairing a lovely key scratch across two doors (happy new year my @rse)?

the official colour name of a silver 2007 auris D4D TR?

the colour code of this car?

whether Halfords have one of those chip repair pens in the colour, or if they can make one up based on the code?

if soemone has had this repaired by a company how much it costs?

id someone did it themselves were they please with the results?

The scratch is pretty deep (no t-cut etc will work etc). So it's a time consuming touch up or a cost of repair. Not sure why someone bothered to do this but I guess that after 20 years of driving I was due another bout of vandalism. If only I could catch em at it!

Thanks for any responses.

C.

I got the toyota touch up paint for my Auris on eBay, from one of the garages on there. Just include your chassis nuber when ordering and they can look up the colour from that. i covered up a few stone chips on the bonnet and it looks perfect once you don't examine it too closely. Cost £7 or £8 I think.

Many thanks Lorcan. Can you remember the name of the company you used? I'll search tonight as work e-mail forbids eBay access unfortunately.

If you dont want to be reminded of the scratch everytime you look at your car I'd recommend you get the scratch removed professionally. I had the same problem a few years ago and used http://www.chipsaway.co.uk/ .

You could not tell where the scratch had been once the job was done, Can't remember how much it was but they will give you a free qoute after inspecting the scratch. Well worth it though!

I can vouch for chips away - I had my old Renault resprayed Liquid Yellow (like the new RS250) and it looked great, someone got jealous and scratched the side and the door, chips away came and not only matched the colour, but as said above, you couldn't see where the scratch was... only problem was I had one side of my car polished where they had been and the other side was filthy so it cost me a trip to the car wash

Thanks for the responses. Much appreciated. I'll give chips away a call and see what they quote. Failing that, DIY it is.
