Hi guys,

Considering going to look at an Aygo tommorow. It has just over 40k on the clock (57-plate) and the dealer (independant) only has receipts for the last 2 services (at 30k and 40k). The service log book is missing.

He tried calling the supplying dealer to see if they had the info but they hadn't done it. I tried calling my local dealer and they could also only check if it was done with them.

Does anyone know if Toyota keep a kind of central record of services (I know Mazda do) and how I could find out if they were done?

Also, is there anything to look out for to see if it's suffered/is suffering from the dreaded leaking problem?

Many thanks,

-Neil

There is a central record of servicing, however it has to be done by a dealer who uses the Toyota approved DMS (computer system) Some large dealer groups for instance use their own sytems and it will not show up if done there

PM me the registration number and I will take a look on the system

A car that has NO dealer history should be purchased considerably cheaper than a model with FULL history, don't pay over the odds for it. A main dealer with typically knock 500-1000 off a car with no history

PM sent.

If it's all been done but they don't know it then I see it as a good bargaining chip!

If not, I'll need to think carefully about it.

I didn't buy it in the end. A couple of niggles which they would have sorted out, but it had had a respray down one side and one wing had definately been replaced and the bumper wasn't quite flush at the join on the wing. His best offer bearing in mind all that was £95 off the sticker price.

Thanks, but no thanks...!

Going to see another one tommorow, although it's 3dr+ in grey (and I much prefer the look of the Black I saw today!).

I bought the second one!

Much tidier car, full Toyota history and I actually preferred the look and colour of this one when I saw it. A year older but 10k less miles.

I'm amazed at the interior space, and it drove better than I expected too. Pick it up in a few days!

The Aygo is a cracking little car - glad you walked away from the first one, with no service records I'd not have bothered to go look at it because it sounded like a dog. Good clean tidy straight cars are very easy to spot and they stand a mile out and they are the ones you need to buy. You'll be very happy with your Aygo :)

Yeah I'm very glad I walked away from the first one. I took my brother with me to both as he's a mechanic/bodywork guy/MOT Tester - very useful to have around when buying a car! I wouldn't have noticed the repsray on the first but he clocked it straight off!

The one I bought was a lot cheaper too, and got him to throw in a years warranty so I'm a happy bunny.

Need to buy a glove box lid and some mats now :)
