Another Mot Pass, Another Trouble Free Year.

Great that feeling when the car sails through it's MOT. Even better when it goes through with no advisories! :yahoo:

This car never ceases to amaze me. Every year it goes through it's MOT and never needs anything, no advisories. Now don't get me wrong, it does get pampered and allways gets whats needed when it's needed and it does get absloutely hammered from time to time (then again we all know how a 16v likes to be revved) yet still comes back for more and still turns good MPG.

5 yrs now i've had this Yaris, a car which i bought to replace a reliable old Micra. It has turned out to be the most reliable car i've ever owned. In that time i've only had to put new front discs & pads on her and routine servicing which i do myself and also some new rear shock mounting rubbers as the originals were a bit perished on the edges (only when i took them off did i realise they were still ok though!) Even the bulbs to my knowledge have never been touched apart from me upgrading the fronts i've never replaced a blown bulb in the time i've owned it. Even the aircon is still good and i've never had it re-gassed.

The MOT guy couldn't believe how good it was for a 10yr old car, the thing is still on its original exhaust system and never had a bush replaced yet. Even the ARB bushes which i asked him to check are still in good order! How can this be when it's 10yrs old and with 84k on the clock??!!

The same garage and mechanic passed it last year and the only difference this year is the car had been treated to new brighter headlight bulbs, a small Jap front no plate and a de-badged rear save for a nice little red & black TRD Badge and the rear drums and front calipers freshly painted silver. It still looks great this car, still turns heads, still goes very quickly for a 1.3, handles like on rails, stops very well and is just amazing.

That's the dillema though.....I keep wanting to change it for something more modern and faster (Just me never satisfied) Colt 1.5 turbo or Swift sport spring to mind as i really like these but i doubt i would get the same reliability with these cars, nice though they are. The only thing to replace it with then would be a p1 T-Sport one of my all time favorite cars.

Ah well decisions decisions.....

Happy Yaris motoring chaps for 2011.

Congrats, they really are well screwed together. The "W" reg we got rid of was the same, the MOT tester at last test remarked how good it was for a 10 year old motor

Cheers buddy. Mine's a W reg aswell. Maybe the W reg Yaris were the cream of the crop then?

Got me thinking now, need to do some work on her soon. Coolant replacement and brake fluid need changing again this year. I would love to fit new suspension aswell, maybe a good set of adjustable coilovers and a set of chrome fat wheels for the Euro look that i love.

Doubt the missus will be impressed.

Brilliant news mate.

My daughter has just bought an 8 yr old Yaris with 63k on and it runs well apart from the odd rattle. It has been serviced every yr and with a bit of luck should last her a few yrs

Sold our 1.0 CDX at 8 years and 63000 miles in 2008. Spooky.

It only ever failed one MOT in all its life - and that was for unacceptable letter spacing on its private number plate....

That said, its been nice having three years without MOT worries - we start again with Roxy in September....
