Yaris Delivered With Wrong Spare Key

I had a 59 plate Yaris delivered for the wife on Friday, all very nice but the dealers has given me the wrong spare key.

I've read some horror stories that new master keys can cost up to £1200

The 2 keys I have are on black fobs, would these both be master keys or do you only get a master key and a spare?

If you do only get 1 master key, how do you know the difference between that and a spare?

I'll ring the dealer on Monday and hopefully they will have the other one, but if not should I insist I have a master key and a spare?

Just to add: Dealer is main Toyota dealer and it was an approved used car (if that makes any difference)

TIA.

Hello and welcome to TOC

I think that you will find that on 59 Plate Yaris's the normal set up is 2 keys

The Grey "Master" key was done away with a few years earlier.

If you are concerned then do check with the dealer............but I am ALMOST certain that you only get 2 keys with modern Toyotas!

Thanks for the welcome, and thanks for the info.

I was quite surprised to get 2 main keys (just a shame one isn't the right one)

On my car, I have a main key that operates central locking, but the spare key only works in locks and ignition.

Seems a nice forum here, I dare say I will lurk around for a bit and get some advice, I'm swapping my car within next 2 months and at the moment it is a toss up between a Yaris and a Punto (evo).

I will be driving ther wifes Yaris for a couple of weeks before deciding which way to go.

Welcome, red yaris s right I think, I got two keys both for my wifes Aygo and my Prius, so it seems that two is the current issue!

Contact the dealer, with the number of keys they must keep i'm not really surprised that occasionally they get it wrong

Two keys is correct these days, and it seems to me you have the correct keys. The spare will work the door lock & ignition.

Welcome :)

Sounds like Toyota now have a cost cutting exercise....

Most dealers supply two main keys......

I have 2 main keys, not one main key and one spare.

The problem is, one of the main keys is the wrong one (for a different car)

I ought to go back tonight, stroll through forecourt, keep clicking the button, and see which car it belongs to

Dealer couldn't find our second main key when we bought our used Yaris - he just ordered another and we collected it a week later....
