Already Problems At Under 200 Miles

I loved my IQ that was until this afternoon

Its done under 200 miles in 8 weeks of havibg it from new and two warning lights came on. It has turned off the traction control which will not turn back on and also the light for the cat converter flashed too. I called Toyota they told me the car is no longer safe to drive. I know this being that I almost crashed today driving down the M25

I now have to call the AA to get it recovered to Toyota to fix. At this point I have no idea how long it will take to fix or how long I will be without a car

Has anyone else has any similar issues.

thanks

Welcome, but sorry to hear of your troubles :(

Hope you get it sorted soon.

Did the lights come on before you nearly crashed it or did you have a skid which then caused the lights? Sometimes if you do a fast enough skid or spin (like on ice) the car goes past its parameters and puts up a warning light.

It could be something else though.

The traction control just saved my car last week.

Was driving too fast... The car has slipped but the traction control has managed to pull the car back before it slips to the opposite lane and a big trucky was there lol.

The IQ is a very safe car when the traction control is working, hope yours gets back on its feet soon.

Have a look at this video of an IQ on ice, turning the traction control on and off to show the difference:

You seem to be very unlucky, as IQs gnerally seem to be a stalwart little car.

I would press VERY HARD for a loan car whilst the repairs are carried out.

Any make can have Friday Afternoon cars, I am hoping that your`IQ is not one, and trust the problems are fixed quickly.

Rgds

Update Here

Toyota still have the car. Apparently everything is back to normal and they are going to deliver the car back at some point tomorrow but no idea of time yet.

The whole steering column has been replaced as they are not sure if the problem was related to the power steering issues that were on the IQ Wide recall.

Hopefully this is a one off but it has knocked my confidence in keeping the car now especially as it was under 8 weeks old.

Hi Grumpy in answer to your question I just turned the car on after it being left for a couple of days and hey presto flashing lights!!

I guess the test to see if its fixed will be next time I hit the M25 (god I hate motorways)
